My journey as a designer of handcrafted sterling and gold jewelry began as a personal flight of fancy in Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1990. I saw a friend’s lovely silver barrette, undoubtedly made by a native silversmith, and decided I wanted to reproduce it. As I wore each new piece a pair of earrings, a necklace, a bracelet I was amazed to discover that not only friends, but complete strangers would inquire about where to find them.
Two years later I had a Gallery and workshop on Canyon Road, turning out an extensive line of original Jane Mason design jewelry, much of it for a growing list of commercial accounts high-end department stores and boutiques from New York to LA. I found myself working harder and enjoying it less … creating more volume but less magic. What was obviously missing, was the personal contact that blessed and substantiated my craft.
So I’ve returned to my roots, with an emphasis on the marvelous private clientele who inspired me and my designs. JaneMason.com will provide an overview of the entire collection and feature new items as they become available. As the site evolves, you will be able to see the corresponding evolution of my work, its historical antecedents and storyline, and the emergence of fine jewelry which represents naturally what we, the women of today, are doing now.
In addition I will continue making personal appearances at trunk shows around the country. Connecting personally is what brings me joy. And likewise, seeing my creations on you, gives them their life. All the best things in life are the result of collaboration. A relationship. I look forward to hearing from you.
PS If you are interested in hosting a trunk show in your home, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
